The creation of "Till the End" started in May 2022 in Shanghai. In order to prevent and control the covid-19 epidemic, the government has formulated many strict policies. Everyone is affected by policy. Movement is severely restricted and freedom is denied. I have been unable to go out for 70 days. Everything around us may seem peaceful, but it is actually full of chaos.

til the end

The setting of this work is a game, an "improvisation" following instructions, and the performers do not rehearse, so I call them participants. Each participant builds a perfect machine according to his own ideal within a fixed framework. We think of a machine as a tool, device or device that is composed of parts and uses energy to complete a given function and achieve a specific purpose. In this work, it can be understood as a state in which people and things are interconnected and running smoothly. Participants are building a machine, and they are also part of the machine that works.

The performance took place in a green screen space. Before the performance, I distributed all the instructions to the participants in the form of a lottery. The participants did not know each other's information. Once the show begins, everyone follows their instructions and is determined to complete their work without any communication, but they soon find that despite their best efforts, the goal is never achieved. Amidst the orderly chaos, seemingly normal machines are riddled with malfunctions.

For the first time, my work faces the audience in the form of a live broadcast. The live broadcast creates a huge distance between the performer and the audience. The trajectory and law of the performer's actions allow the audience to experience the state of the performer during the absurd process.
